Purchasing & Shipping Policies
I am a one person operation, doing my best to grow healthy dahlias and provide customers with a positive dahlia purchasing and growing experience. If you have any issues or questions about your purchase, please reach out and I will do my utmost best to help you feel satisfied.
”Tuber appearance” - Small tubers and large tubers will grow the same size plants, nicely shaped tubers and ugly crooked tubers will grow the same size plants. As long as a tuber has a healthy body, intact neck, and an eye on the crown, it does not matter what size it is, or if it is “Ugly”. Large tubers may be impressive, but they do not grow larger plants than small tubers. The general rule is that a tuber should be at least the mass of a AA battery. Every variety interestingly, grows tubers differently in form and size. I’ve divided my tubers into A grade(best)and B grade(2nd best) and will only be selling and shipping A grade tubers, leaving the B grade tubers for myself to grow in the upcoming season.
Shipping charges are a flat rate of $12 per order, for any quantity of tubers. Orders over $100 will receive free shipping.
Purchasing Terms and Conditions:
All sales are final. No cancellations, exchanges, or adjustments can be made. If you’d like to add more dahlias to your shipping order, place another order, using the same email and shipping address and I will combine shipping charges for free.
Your dahlia tuber(s) are guaranteed to be viable with a healthy body, intact neck, and an eye on crown.
Your dahlia tuber(s) are guaranteed to be labeled correctly and true to the variety you purchased.
Refunds may be given for dahlia tubers that do not sprout an eye or bloom as a mislabeled variety. Please take pictures that you can send me for reference.
I cannot refund for dahlias that show signs of virus. See below.
Regarding virus: Based on data from the American Dahlia Society and Washington State University research, approximately 87% of dahlia stock in the US is infected with at least one virus. Unfortunately virus in dahlias is far too common and I have sadly received virused dahlias from nearly every farm I’ve ever purchased from, large and small. I throw virused dahlias in the trash and do not continue growing them. All of my dahlias that I sell tubers from showed no outward signs of tobacco streak virus, mosaic virus, or tomato spotted wilt virus throughout the growing season. I will not sell tubers from a plant that looks unhealthy, but that unfortunately doesn’t mean that virus is not hiding within a healthy plant. Virus can be quickly transferred from one plant to another by insects and cutting tools. I practice strict sanitation protocol to prevent the spread of virus amongst my dahlia plants, sanitizing cutting tools with “Vircon S” between each plant that I cut flowers from, chop down at harvest, or divide tubers from.
“Trail’s Dahlias” is not responsible for customer’s actions after receiving or planting tubers including:
- overwatering tubers at their earliest stage which leads to tuber rot,
- planting tubers too early in cold and rainy conditions which leads to tuber rot,
- slug and bug damage,
- dampening off of early sprouts in intense heat and sun which can wilt and kill the initial sprout leading to possible plant death,
- death of plant due to extreme weather conditions,
- cross contamination of virus or gall due to bug or cutting tool transfer.
- improper storage leading to tuber rot or desiccation.
If any of our purchasing guarantees are not met, please notify us immediately at info@trailsdahlias.com and we will do our best to make things right with a refund or replacement. Please provide pictures with your inquiry.
